Start with the range and type number on your Oral-B handle. iO heads use a different fitting from the standard round heads used by many other Oral-B rechargeable brushes. Check that fitting before choosing a head style or pack size.
The main head families
| Your handle | Matching head family | Watch for |
|---|---|---|
| Adult iO range | Oral-B iO replacement heads. | Standard CrossAction-style heads are not iO heads. |
| Genius, Smart, Pro or Vitality rechargeable range | The standard round-head family specified for your model. | The words “Oral-B electric” alone are insufficient. |
| Pulsonic or another unusual/older design | Model-specific manufacturer parts guidance. | The broad standard-head rule has exceptions. |
| Kids handle | The matching kids system and age-labeled head. | Pro Kids and iO Kids are not one interchangeable range. |
Oral-B separates iO heads from those for Genius, Smart, Pro and Vitality handles. Its replacement-head guide also names Pulsonic as an exception to the standard-head fit rule.
Find your handle model
- Look for the range name on the handle or original box.
- Record the type or model identifier from the handle, not just the charger.
- Find the manufacturer’s support information for that identifier.
- Compare the refill package’s compatibility wording with the supported family.
- Keep a photo of the identifier for your next refill purchase.
If the brush was a gift or secondhand purchase, identify the handle before ordering refills. A photo of the current head can help support staff, but use the handle’s confirmed parts information to choose a replacement.
Choose the fitting, then the style
Once you’ve confirmed the fitting, compare head shape and bristle softness. Names such as “white,” “floss” and “sensitive” describe head designs or intended preferences; they do not change the fitting.
If you’re choosing a head around discomfort or dental work, ask your dentist which features suit you.
Check kids refills separately
Oral-B distinguishes Pro Kids from iO Kids and directs buyers to the matching kids refills. Check the product’s age guidance as well as its fitting.
Keep refill packs labeled by family if your household has several handles. This makes it easier for someone else to order the right heads next time.
Check the selected pack
Check the selected variant, its maker, compatible handles and pack count. Different options on the same listing may have different fittings. Recheck your selection before checkout.
Try a smaller pack when choosing an unfamiliar head style. If the delivered package names a different fitting from the listing, contact the seller before using it.
Quick answers
Can I push a standard head onto an iO handle?
Use the iO head family specified by Oral-B. Don’t force or modify a standard head to fit an iO handle.
Does “fits Oral-B” mean it is made by Oral-B?
No. A third-party maker can use that wording to describe its compatibility claim. Read the brand and manufacturer information to see who made the head.
What if I cannot find the handle’s range?
Contact Oral-B support with the identifier on the handle and clear photos. Confirm the refill family before buying, especially for an older model.
